South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has launched Atal Jan Aahar Yojna on the 93rd birthday of former Prime minister of India Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The aim of the scheme is to provide good quality food to poor and unprivileged people of Delhi at very less price which can be afforded by everyone.
Here are the main points of Atal Jan Aahaar Kendra:
Atal Jan Aahaar Kendra was formally launched on the 25 December which is the birth date of Atal Bihari Vajpayee by the Mayor of South Delhi, Chairman of the civic body’s Standing Committee and the Leader of Opposition.
The food provided under the scheme will contain Rice, puri-sabzi, chapattis, chole, rajma, vegetable and halwa. All this will be provided at a price of Rs.10. The timings for which the food will be provided are between 11 A.M to 2 P.M. It will be provided for all seven days of week.
As per the current plan government will be launching six such aahar kendras or food centres and will be increased in phased manner later on. Later on dinner will also be included under the Atal Jan Aahar Yojna after the number of centres are increased.
Along with the launch of Atal Jan Aahar Yojna by SDMC, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has also started similar kind of food centre as a pilot project in Shalimar Bagh area by the name of ‘Atal Rasoi Deen Dayal Aahaar Kendra’.
The motive behind the scheme is very good as almost half of Indians are still struggling to get good quality food for them. They find it difficult to meet their fundamental requirements with the amount they earn daily. With this scheme they will at least get one time food.
