India pledges USD 1 million to WADA to support Clean Sport
India has pledged $1 million to WADA as its scientific budget for better and cleaner atmosphere for sports at global level. This is the highest ever contribution made by any country and it is more than the annual contribution made to WADA’s core budget by India.
How this fund will be utilised by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency)
- To develop innovative anti-doping testing
- Improvement of detection methods,
- Strengthen WADA’s independent Investigations and Intelligence Department.
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Awarded Golden Peacock Environment Management award 2020
Indian Steel Giant SAIL has got prestigious Golden Peacock Environment Management award for the year 2020. This award is won by SAIL for the second time for its efforts in adopting environment friendly measures. It has upgraded its pollution control facilities, treatment and re-circulation of wastewater from individual units and outfalls, enhancement in green cover and efficient solid waste management.
About Golden Peacock Environment Management awards
These awards were initiated in 1998 by the World Environment Foundation in 1998. Its aim is to motivate corporates to improve their environment saving performances.
India Invited to G7 summit
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has invited Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to attend the G7 summit of 2021. The summit will be hosted by UK. The invitation is in line with the UK government’s intension to work alongside like-minded democracies to address common challenges.
Note: India is not a member of G7 group.
What is D10 Group of Countries?
D10 is the grouping of all G-7 countries along with India Australia and South Korea. It means 10 biggest democracies of the world. It is formed to avoid the reliance on China’s Huawei for 5G equipment and technologies.
MoU Signed Between India and Austria in New Delhi
India has signed a memorandum of understanding with Austria for cooperation in Technology in Road Infrastructure Sector. The MoU is important for India as it will help the country to improve Road Transportation, Road/Highways infrastructure development, management and administration, road safety and intelligent transport systems. Austria has advanced technology for highways and roads. The country is expert in intelligent transportation system, electronic toll system, traffic management system, landslide protection measures and tunnel monitoring systems. These will surely help India to strengthen its trade with Austria.
United States Again Included India in Monitoring list of countries
The United States has placed India in its List of Monitoring countries. Government of US names a country as “currency manipulator” in case if it believes that the country is involved in unfair trade practices. According to the US, the countries in the list are deliberately devaluing its currency against Dollar to take benefits boost exports and artificially show trade deficits.
