India to set up its first Lithium Refinery in Gujarat
With the motive to become self dependent in battery production, India going to set up Lithium refinery in Gujarat state. Manikaran Power Limited, will invest around Rs 1,000 crore for setting up this refinery. The company will process Lithium ore to produce battery-grade material.
MS Dhoni bags ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade’
Former captain of Indian cricket team and one of the most successful captains MS Dhoni has been honored with ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade. The award is given to him for showing great game spirit on the ground when he called back England batsman Ian Bell after getting run out in Nottingham Test in 2011.
US plans to set up a Nuclear Reactor on Moon
USA has a plan to build the first nuclear reactor on the moon. The country has set target of the year 2026 for the completion. In early 2021, the US Department of Energy in collaboration with NASA aims to ask for industry design offers. This will be helpful to human expedition missions to the moon as well as Mars.

India’s Largest Hockey Stadium in Odisha
India will have its biggest Hockey Stadium in Odisha soon. The announcement was made by Odisha Chief Minister Sh. Naveen Patnaik. The stadium will be set up in Rourkela city of Odisha at the campus of Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
It will have sitting capacity of 20,000 people.
The stadium will be spread over 15 acres.

A new mobile application and web portal named as “PR Insight” has been launched by Government of Punjab. It was launched by Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh. The motive behind launch of new mobile app as well as web portal is to improve the delivery of citizen-centric services. The system collects citizen’s feedback on various government policies. This will help government to improve its existing schemes and programmes after monitoring their feedback.

E-Sampada web portal & Mobile App
Government has launched a new web portal and mobile app E-Sampada on 25 December, 2020 on the occassion of Good Governance Day. This new facility will provide a single window for services such as allotment for more than one lakh Government residential accommodations and office space allotment to Government organisations.
E- sampada will enable its users to lodge complaints, submit documents and appear for the virtual hearing. The system will minimize human intervention and will lead to greater transparency.
FIFA cancels Two next year’s World Cup Events
International Federation of Association Football or FIFA has cancelled two major world cup events which were to be held in 2021. These are:-
- Men’s U-20
- U-17 World Cup tournaments 2021.
Reasons Why?
Both tournaments have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the next edition of tournaments will be held in 2023. The organisation has again appointed Indonesia and Peru to host 2023 editions of men’s FIFA U-20 World Cup and FIFA U-17 World Cup. Earlier these two countries were going to host these both events in 2021.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has publicize/announced Men’s T20I, ODI and Test teams of the decade. MS Dhoni is named as captain for ODI and T20 teams while Virat Kohli is the captain of test team. Total four Indian cricketers have been selected in T20 side which are:

Indian and Vietnamese Navies Conducted Passage Exercise
Indian Navy successfully conducted “Passage Exercise” with Vietnamese Navy on 26 December, 2020. The exercise is conducted in South China Sea. The motive is to improve maritime cooperation between the two countries.
