Loktak Lake
The specialty of Loktak lake is that it is floating water lake. It is Located in beautiful Indian state Manipur. The lake covers huge surface area of around 287 sq. kms which makes it largest freshwater lake in the north-eastern India. Its length is 95 kms and and 13 km width. Maximum depth of Loktak lake is 4.6 meters. It is important from economy point of view to India. It serves various purposes to its surrounding areas. Lake water is used for hydro power generation, irrigation, drinking water supply and wildlife.

Damdama Lake
This lake is located in hilly region of Haryana state’s Gurugram District. Its shape is like an Amoeba. It has normal water level of up to 20ft. The water level of Damdama lake reaches up to 70 ft during monsoon season. Variety of birds visit lake during all seasons (monsoon, winter and summer. Damdama lake is home for around 190 bird’s species throughout the year. Out of these, fowl, cranes, cormorants, terns, egrets, kingfishers are some major species of words. Length of Damdama lake is around 12.14 sq. km.

Dal Lake
This is one of the most beautiful lakes. It is situated in Srinagar and is famous as Lake of flowers. Every year thousands of visitors prefer to visit Dal Lake. It is important source for commercial operations in fishing and water plant harvesting. Area of Dal Lake is 18-22 sq. km long. Its total length is 7.44 km, width is 3.5 kms whereas depth of Dal Lake is 6m.

Upper Lake- Bhojtal
In Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh, Upper Lake or Bhojtal exists. It is one of the major source of drinking water for residents. The lake provides approx 30 million imperial gallons of fresh water to around 40% residents. It covers around 31 sq. km of surface area. Width of the lake is around 5 kms.

Bhimtal Lake
