Indian President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated Andhra Pradesh Fibre Grid project on 27 December 2017. AP Fibre Grid Project is Andhra Pradesh state project which has been developed to provide three services that is internet, television and telephone services at a lowest price of Rs. 149 per month to households. The project has been implemented by Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited (APSFL). Under the plan 149, 5 GB data at 15 Mbps speed, 250 television channels and rent free telephone connection will be provided.
AP Fiber grid plans Under Andhra Pradesh Fibre Grid project
There are mainly three AP Fibernet plans available under the AP Fibre Grid Project which are Rs. 149, Rs. 399, Rs. 599 for households. Additionally, two business plans have been launched for private offices and institutions priced at Rs 999 for 50 GB at 100 Mbps and Rs 2,499 for 250 GB.
Main Points:
The project will turn every household into a Wi-Fi hub and people will be able to avail the services using a set top box. Apart from providing above three services, fibre grid will also enable people to use the system for video-conferencing and movies on demand. Government also will integrate district command control centres, all public CCTV, the AP State Wide Area Network into the grid.
In start, connections will be provided to nearly one lakh households with 100-percent connectivity in 55 villages of two districts named as Krishna and Guntur. The authorities have laid 1,627 km optic fibre cable (OFC) in Krishna district and 1,879 km OFC in Guntur district. Later this project will be extended to add approximately 30 lakh households under the fibre grid by the April 2018.
The project will be completed in year 2019. After completed it will cover:
- More than one crore households
- Fifty Thousand (50,000) schools, Educational Institutes
- All offices under Government
- More than 50,000 hospitals
- All Panchayat’s offices
AP Fiber Grid Connection
There will requirement of two set top boxes for every household to avail the services which would cost around Rs. 4000 to them. The amount can be paid in monthly instalments of Rs 99 to government.
