Capital city of Karnataka Bengaluru has become first city of India to have its own logo. The logo was launched by state government to build an image of city at international level and to give boost to tourism sector in the city. It was launched in the presence of IT-BT and tourism minister Priyank Kharge.
The logo was selected using crowd sourcing where total 1350 designs were received. Out of 1350 logo designs, bankers-turned-designers Rushi Patel and M Venkateswara Rao’s design was selected. Both these are founders of Nammur, a design firm.
The tagline of the logo is ‘Bengaluru – Be U’ (be you). First two letters that is B, E and last U are given red colour to highlight the tagline Be U. Whereas seventh and eighth letters (U and R) resemble the vowel, oo, in Kannada.
Launching a logo for a city in India is first of its kind, generally logos are used by bigger cities of world to get a unique identity at world level. With this initiative, Bengaluru has now been added to the list of cities with own logo along with major cities like New York, Paris, Berlin, London, Melbourne, Singapore and other global cities.
