Kerala’s Alappuzha among 5 global cities in UN list to successfully manage solid waste
Kerala’s coastal town of Alappuzha, which is world famous for its backwaters and intricate network of canals and lagoons, has also been in the news for the cleanliness. It has been spoted in a United Nations (UN) report of best five global cities to handle the solid waste management problem brilliantly. As per the UN Environment report lists Alappuzha or Aleppey has been listed along with other four cities below:
Osaka in Japan, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Penang in Malaysia and Cajica in Colombia.

As per the survey Taj Mahal witnesses more than 8 million visitors per year. It is just behind the Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. The survey was conducted by TripAdvisor – an online travel services providing agency.
