Anti-dumping duty Imposed by Government on rods and bars Import From China

With an aim to save the domestic industry from losses occurring due to import from China, Government has this time imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of rods and bars from China. Finance Ministry in a notification (No.48/2017-Customs ADD) stated that it has imposed the anti dumping duty on Chinese rods and bars after carefully observing the final report of the designated authority.

In its report the designated authority had came to a conclusion that these goods have been imported from China at very low prices than the normal prices. So an anti dumping duty ranging between $535 and $546 per MT has been imposed on imported rods and bars from China.


Rajasthan became first State to introduce Skill Development Programme in Higher Education

Rajasthan has become the first state of India to implement skill development courses in higher education at college level. The programme has been introduced by the collaboration of Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU) and state department college of education.

Total 16 entrepreneurship and skill development courses have been prepared under the programme for different colleges of state. Under the programme, 12 Certificate courses and 4 diploma courses will be run and every college has to select five courses among all available courses.

 


Gujarat Becomes First State to Reduce VAT on petrol, diesel cuts taxes by 4 per cent

The Gujarat government on Tuesday 4 per cent cut in the value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel, cutting down their costs by Rs 2.93 and Rs 2.72 respectively. The move comes in a week after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, declared the cut in excise duty on oil and asked the states to cut sales tax or VAT on petrol and diesel to provide some relief to customers due to raising prices of petrol and diesel in the country.

The BJP government at the Center has gone under savage feedback over high fuel costs.

 


Himachal Pradesh implemented Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme to provide Rs. 30,000 additional cover

Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) has been implemented by Himachal Pradesh Government to offer curative geriatric health care services by way of additional insurance cover.

Under the scheme any person who is having age equal to 60 or above and is currently enrolled in RSBY or is going to be enrolled RSBY can take benefits of the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS).


Bengaluru going to be first Aadhaar-enabled airport in the country by Dec 2018

After running a pilot project in February for two months, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has decided to make Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) country’s first Aadhaar-enabled airport by the end of 2018 in December. This initiative is in line with aim to make smart airports.

As per the BIAL, it will use the Aadhaar-enabled entry and bio-metric e-boarding process to make the entry of passengers inside the airport as well as to get better control over other things. With this new system the screening process of the passengers will really be fast. Right now on an average, screening process takes up to 25 minutes but with Aadhaar-enabled entry, it will be completed within 10 minutes. So more passengers will be able to enter from a single gate.
