HRD Ministry Innovation Cell

HRD (Human Resource Development) ministry going to set up Innovation Cell under the leadership of a scientist. The aim of the cell will be the development of new ideas to encourage innovations in the country. India has shown improvement of six places (66 to 60) in Latest Global Innovation Index and idea is to take India’s innovation to a next level.


Bill on Damages for Breach of Contract Passed by Lok Sabha

Lower House of India (Lok Sabha) on March 15, 2018, passed bill named Specific Relief (Amendment) Bill, 2018. The bill was passed by voice vote. As per the bill a party can now seek for damages from other party in case of contract breach.


President Of India Inaugurates World Hindi Secretariat In Mauritius

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated World Hindi Secretariat at Port Louis (Capital of Mauritius). The foundation stone of the Secretariat was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. A grant of Rs. 33 crore has been provided by India and in future Hindi Secretariat will be financed by India. The land for the building was provided by Mauritius Government.


Gina Haspel appointed as CIA’s First Female Director

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has appointed Gina Haspel as its director. Gina is first female director of CIA. Prior to her appointment, Gina (61 Years of Age) has more than 30 years of experience as career intelligence officer. She also has hold many high status positions such as deputy director of the National Clandestine Service, CIA agent chief of staff for the director of the National Clandestine Service.


Telangana and Kay Ventures Tie Up For Apparel Hub

The Telangana government and Kay Ventures are going to set up an Rs. 100-crore Apparel Super Hub in Sircilla. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kay Ventures and Telangana was signed regarding project.

The set up will be spread across 20 acres and will be completed in three phases. The first phase will started at an investment of Rs. 30 crores and will be completed in a year. Approx 90 percent of amount required for phase-1 completion will be funded by Telangana state Government while Kay Ventures and its associates will take care of rest of the amount.


WHO Countries Commit to End TB by 2030

Member-countries of the World Health Organisation (WHO) South-East Asia Region (including India) have made a commitment to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) by 2030. All countries agreed to speed up their efforts so that the global goal could be achieved. The goal is to reach out 2 Million missing TB cases and 150,000 multidrug-resistance cases by 2020 and implement a proper response to end TB.

India has alone set a goal to end TB from country five years ahead of global goal that is in 2025.


GST Tax rates in India are Second Highest in World: World Bank

World Bank in a report has stated that GST (Goods and Services Tax) in India is most complex and second highest in World among 115 countries with similar indirect tax system. India also has highest number of tax slabs under GST as 0, 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Only 49 countries around the world have single slab under GST, while two GST slabs are used by 28 countries.
