Indian Navy To Host Bilateral Exercise ‘Varuna’ With French Navy
“Varuna” a naval exercise between Navies of Indian and French is to be hosted by Indian Navy this year. This will be sixteenth edition on joint navy exercise between two countries. last one was conducted in April 2017 at French Coast.
VARUNA-18 will be conducted in three seas namely the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and South Western Indian Ocean.
Navies of both countries have been involved in joint exercises since 1993. The excercise was named Varuna in 2001.
National Workshop On POSHAN Abhiyan Held In New Delhi
India conducted its first National workshop on POSHAN Abhiyan in New Delhi which involved states and UTs. Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi was the place of workshop. The one day long workshop was organized by Women and Child Development Ministry.
Aim: The motive of workshop was to provide complete information of POSHAN Abhiyan, its components and involved softwares.
India And EU Signed Agreement On Sharing Earth Observation Data
India has signed an agreement with European Union (EU) for sharing earth observation data between two from each other’s satellites. The agreement was signed at Bengaluru. As per the details from Indian side, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will share it’s earth observation satellites data.
IRCTC and Ola Ties Up
Cab aggregator Ola and railway PSU IRCTC have partnered with each other to provide first-and-last-mile connectivity. Under the partnership, commuters will be able to book taxi from IRCTC Rail Connect App and on its website. This will be a six month tie-up project between two. Ola will offer all its services under the agreement.
International Day Of Happiness is celebrated as 20 March
Happiness has its own importance in people’s life to make it free of worries and problems. To make awareness about happiness all over the world United Nations (UN) has celebrated the International Day of Happiness (on 20th March) (IDH 2018).
The theme of the Happiness day is “Share Happiness”. Recently, world happiness report 2018 was also released in which 156 countries were indexed based on their scores of happiness. Finland was top country in the index. India was ranked poor at 133rd place whereas its neighbours were way ahead of it.
Export Duty Scraped on Sugar by India
Aiming to boost sugar export, Indian government has scraped export duty imposed on sugar. The step is taken after India has huge stock and production of sugar. According estimates, India will be having 29.5 million tonnes of sugar production on season end in September 2018. This is 45 percent increment as compared to last year’s production.
Along with that, India may also make it compulsory for mills to export at least 2-3 millions of sugar to reduce the stocks.
