Jio Payments Bank started its operations
Jio Payment Bank has began its operations in India from April 3, 2018. H. Srikrishnan is appointed as MD and CEO of Jio Payments Bank. It is a joint venture between Reliance and State Bank of India in 70:30 ratio.
About Payment Banks
Payment banks are banks approved by Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These are given privileges to promote financial inclusions. Currently these banks are allowed to take deposits up to Rs. 1 Lakh. Payment Banks can’t provide loans.
Airtel Payments Bank was the first in India that was set up by RBI in November 2016. Later on in 2017, two other payment banks: Paytm Payments Bank and Fino Payments Bank were started.
Commonwealth Games started in Gold Coast
The opening ceremony of 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games was held in Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia on April 4th, 2018. It is being participated by more than 4,500 athletes from 71 countries. The games will be held till 15 April 2018 where 275 gold medals are to waiting for their winners through 23 events.
India is taking part with 227 athletes. PV Sindhu is India’s flag bearer in opening ceremony. Indian team includes many star player like Mary Kom, Sushil Kumar, Gagan Narang and Saina Nehwal.
E-Way Bill System for Inter-State Goods movement
Government’s made into force new E-Way bill system for Inter-State Goods movement. As per new system, transporters have to produce e-way bill in front of GST inspector. It will be applicable on goods having value more than Rs. 50,000. Bill can be generated through GST Portal. The person need to have registered first on GST portal. System has capacity to generate 60,000 bills per hour which can further be increased.
Indian Army-HDFC Bank ink MoU on defence salary package
Indian Army to better serve their working and retired persons has signed MoU with HDFC Bank on defence salary package. The new MoU will offer many additional benefits to account holders such as free personal accident death cover, free permanent disability cover of Rs 30 lakhs. Free educational cover for four years (Rs. one lakh per year) to the dependent child in case of death (accidental) of the army person. No processing fee on car loans.
Himachal Pradesh Launched MAA Programme
Health Minister of HP Mr Vipin Parmar launched MAA programme in Himachal pradesh state. He also directed CMOs to make sure that the programme is implemented successfully and set goals are achieved.
Mother’s Absolute Affection or MAA programme is aimed at promoting breastfeeding among mothers of newly born babies. It created awareness about how important is breastfeeding for a child being healthy. The programme consists of various components such as community awareness generation, strengthening inter-personal communication through ASHA workers, skilled support for breastfeeding at delivery points in public health facilities and work places.
