Cabinet approves enhancement of target under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

PM Narendra Modi chaired Cabinet committee on Economic affairs (CCEA) has approved the extention of target of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to 2020. The target limit has been increased from current five crore households to new eight crore. The committee also allocated additional amount of RS. 4,800 crore for PMUY.

PMUY is a center government scheme to provide LPG connections to households especially from rural areas. Earlier the scheme was launched for a three years period. Now the extension is given by seeing a huge response especially from rural area women.


India Ranks at 44th In Global Intellectual Property Index, US Tops

India has shown good improvement in its Global Intellectual Property Index by ranking at 44th place among 50 nations. The list is toped by USA followed by UK and Sweden. In last years report India was ranked at 43rd position out of 45 countries.


Indra Nooyi becomes ICC’s first independent woman director

PepsiCo chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi has been selected as first independent woman director of ICC. Appointment of Indra as ICC’s first independent female director was decided unanimously in a meeting held on last Friday (9-02-2018). She will be joining the board in June 2018 for a term of two years.


Hardayal Prasad appointed as SBI Card MD & CEO

Hardayal Prasad is appointed new Managing Director (MD) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by SBI on its credit card issuing department “SBI Card”. He will replace Vijay Jasuja. Hardayal Prasad had joined SBI in 1983 as probationary officer. He has hold many leadership positions in SBI bank throughout his career.

SBI Card is India’s second largest credit card issuer.


Haryana emerges as first champion of Khelo India School Games with 38 gold medals

Haryana young players have shown great game in the inaugural edition of the Khelo India School Games by being at top with highest number of medals won. The state won total 102 medals which includes 38 gold medals, 26 silver medals, 38 Bronze medals. Second place was captured by Maharashtra (110) while Delhi with 94 medals came third in the games.

CCI Fined Google Rs 135.86 crore for abusing its power in India

Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed a fine of 136-crore on tech giant Google for infringing anti-trust conduct. The fine was imposed based on the complaints filed by Matrimony.com and Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS) on Google LLC, Google India and Google Ireland in 2012.
