Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore Launched Khelo India Logo
A simple yet vibrant Khelo India logo was launched by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore at the Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The logo was designed by Ogilvy India. Khelo India School Games will be started from 31 January, 2018. The games are organised in collaboration with SGFI and the National sports federations.
Gilles Simon Wins Inaugural Tata Open Title
Gilles simon in final has beaten Anderson to win inaugural Tata Open Maharashtra. Ranked at 89th position, Gilles from French won the game in straight sets against the world number 14 Anderson by 7-6(4), 6-2. This is the first title of Simon since he won his last one in Marseille in February 2015.
Indian Railways HRD and S&T Ministry Inked MoU on Technology Mission for Indian Railways
An MoU has been inked among three ministries named: Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Ministry of Science & Technology for jointly funding for TMIR (Technology Mission for Indian Railways). The MoU will help Indian Railways to avail world-class indigenized technologies at much lesser costs.
TMIR (Technology Mission for Indian Railways) aim is pay attention and drive modern technologies of monitoring, control, communications, design, electronics and materials for Railway Safety. It will help Railways to start and incubate design and development projects of significant national importance.
Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic won Hopman Cup
Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic of Switzerland have won the Hopman Cup on Saturday in the final of the tournament played at Perth. This is the third Hopman cup for Switzerland. Federer and Belinda won it by defeating Germany’s pair Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber by the sets of 4-3(3) 4-2 and secured a 2-1 victory.
This was the second second Hopman Cup triumph of Federer since he won the first one with then world number one Martina Hingis in 2001.
Saudi Arabia Gave Green signal to India’s plan to ferry Haj pilgrims Through sea route: Naqvi
You will soon be able to visit Haj in Saudi Arabia through sea route. Saudi Arabia has agreed to revive Haj pilgrim sea route from India. The announcement was made by Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday. An annual Haj agreement regarding the matter was signed between India and Saudi Arabia in Mecca.
Indian Railways to Equip All 8,500 Stations With Free Public Wi-Fi Facility
Indian Railways is all set to make all its Railway stations Wi-Fi enabled by March 2019. The initiative is taken under the government’s digital India Initiative. As per the report, approximately 8500 railway stations in the country including rural and remote areas will be equipped with Wi-Fi facilities at a cost of Rs. 700 crore ($110 million).
Indian Navy signs MoU with Cochin Port Trust
For better berthing capacity, Indian Navy has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Cochin Port Trust. As per the agreement, 228 metres of berths, Q2 and Q3 at Mattancherry Wharf have been given to Indian Navy on lease for a perid of five years by CPT. The MoU was signed by by Goutam Gupta on behalf of Cochin Port Trust and Deepak Kumar, Chief Staff Officer (Ops), Southern Naval Command for Indian Navy. The lease deal has been finalized at an amount of Rs. 10 crore a year.
