Heena Sindhu clinches gold in International Shooting in Hannover

Indian ace shooter Heena Sindhu clinched gold medal in women’s 10m air pistol at International Shooting in Hannover. While P. Shri Nivetha another Indian also won bronze medal in the same category.

Heena was in wonderful form from beginning of final against France’s Mathilde Lamolle. Once the game was tied between the two with 239.8 points. But Heena won the tie to win the gold ahead of Mathilde.

Piyush goyal Takes Charge as Finance Minister

In a latest reshuffle of members of union cabinet’s responsibilities, Railway minister Piyush Goyal was given additional charge as finance Minister of India. He will be at the position till Arun Jaitley comes back to office after his treatment. Arun Jaitley is currently undergoing Kidney transplant treatment at AIIMS – All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

In another decision, Ministry of Information and Broadcast department was taken back from Smriti Irani. Irani is now only responsible for Textile Ministry.

Information and Broadcast department was given to Rajyavardhan Rathore. SS Ahluwalia (BJP national vice-president) is now be handling Ministry of State for Electronics.


International Day of Families celebrated

It was today on 15th May, 2018, International day of families is celebrated. It has been celebrated since 1993 as was decided by General Assembly of United Nations. On this day awareness about issues relating to families is spread. It is also a day to increase knowledge the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families.

‘Families and inclusive societies’ is the theme of 2018 International Day of Families.


World Health Organization Introduced “Replace” global plan to eliminate fats in food

World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday launched “Replace” – a plan to completely eliminate industrially-produced artificial trans fats from the global food. The 2023 year is set to achieve this target. WHO called all concerned officials of all countries to use “REPLACE” action plan. The plan is used to save health of people worldwide from cardiovascular diseases caused due to excessive use of trans fats.

What is the need of such plan?

These trans fats are highly responsible for cardiovascular diseases. Which then caused deaths to most of people suffering from these diseases. According to reports, it worldwide causes more than 5,00,000 deaths each year.


First all women Passport Seva Kendra comes up in Phagwara

Union Minister Vijay Sampla and Regional Passport Officer Harmanbir Singh Gill on 14th of May, 2018 inaugurated First all women Passport Seva Kendra in Phagwara at Punjab. This is the 192nd branch of Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in India. Madhuri Bhambi has been made as senior passport assistant of the branch. She will also take responsibility as verification officer. While charge of postal assistants are given to Seema Sharma and Prabhjot Kaur.
