India Becomes First Country to Partner with Facebook
India has partnered with social media networking company Facebook for providing quick disaster response. India is first country of the world to join hands with Facebook for handling disaster-related challenges.
Union minister Kiren Rijiju made the announcement about the partnership on last Thursday and also invited other technologies to come ahead to create tailored solutions for disaster-related challenges.
Federal Bank gets RBI nod to open offices in Kuwait, Singapore
RBI has approved Federal Bank’s request for approval to open representative offices at Kuwait and Singapore. There has been a significant increase in the inflow of foreign remittances in the bank. The bank has been a favourite one for NRIs due to its NRI friendly policies.
Currently bank is already running its representative offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Federal Bank has also tied up with more than 100 overseas banks/remittance partners.
Haryana first state to treat Hepatitis-C patients with oral medicine
Haryana has become India’s first state to treat patients of Hepatitis-C through oral medicine. The oral treatment has effectively cured Hepatitis-C patients of all categories. This is the first time that the state has included oral medicines to government hospitals. All medicines are provided free of cost by the Government to permanent residents of the state.
India Re-elected UNESCO’s executive board Member
India has rejoined top decision- making body UNESCO’s executive board as its member on November 9th 2017. India was elected through election process held at the 39th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation in Paris.
Each country can cast one vote, irrespective of its size or the extent of its contribution to the budget.
General conference consists of all representatives from the States Members of the organisation. The meeting of General conference takes place after a gap of two years. All member States and Associate Members and observers for non-Member States participate in the General Conference. A part from these mentioned members, intergovernmental organisations and non- governmental organisations (NGOs) also take part in it.
Duties of UNESCO General Conference:
It is General Conference’s duty to set the programmes and the budget of the UNESCO. It also has responsibility of electing and appointing the Members of the Executive Board after every four years. It is the General Conference which determines the policies and the main lines of work of the organisation.

Uber joins with NASA for flying taxis Development
Uber has partnered with with NASA for flying taxis priced competitively with standard Uber journeys. The announcement was made by Uber on Wednesday. It also announced that Los Angeles will join two other previously revealed “UberAIR” pilot schemes in Dallas Fort-Worth, Texas, and Dubai.
The new partnership of Uber with NASA’s UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) Project will support company’s goal of starting demonstration flights of uberAIR in the selected cities of Unites States by 2020.

For the prevention of Money Laundering, Aadhaar Linking with Insurance Policy has been made compulsory by Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) on Wednesday (8/11/2017). The regulator has asked insurers to comply with the statutory norms.
The linkage of Aadhaar number with insurance policy has been maade neccessary under the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 as per the IRDA statements.
