Dalveer Bhandari was re-elected by International Court of Justice (ICJ) as India’s nominee

Dalveer Bhandari was re-elected to the fifth and the last seat of the world court International Court of Justice (ICJ) as India’s nominee to the ICJ on Monday after Britain withdrew its candidate from the election.

In a Voting done in General Assembly, Mr. Bhandari got 183-193 votes thus secured all fifteen votes in the Security Council after separate and simultaneous elections were held at the UN headquarters in New York.

The need of election raised when United Kingdom, in a dramatic turn of events, withdrew out of the race for the Hague-based ICJ. This opened the way for Bhandari to be re-elected at the court International Court of Justice (ICJ). Mr. Bhandari was in close fight with Britain’s Christopher Greenwood for re-election to the ICJ.


President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurate Manipur Sangai Festival In Imphal

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated Manipur Sangai Festival, 2017 in Imphal. The 10-day state festival will be held at the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre at Palace Compound in Imphal.

President will also open a two-day North-East Development Summit at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. In the Summit almost 20 MOUs will be signed with investing companies to attract investment for generating employment avenues youth who are unemployed even after having good educational qualifications.


Maharashtra Govt will Set Up Gender Budget Cells

Maharashtra Government is going to construct Gender Budget Cells for an effective implementation of welfare schemes for women and children in the state. Sudhir Mungantiwar (Finance Minster of Maharashtra) announced about setting up of Gender Budget Cells. Further, inter-departmental committees under the concerned departments will be constituted to make sure that all schemes are implemented properly. There will be a nodal officer appointed in each administrative department to take care of all schemes of WCD and to make sure that schemes are implemented properly.


Joint Army exercise Between India-Myanmar begins in Meghalaya in Meghalaya

Joint Military exercise between India and Myanmar named as India-Myanmar Bilateral Military Exercise 2017 (IMBAX 2017) started in Meghalaya. The IMBAX 2017 is taking place at Joint Warfare Centre at the Umroi Joint Training Node in Meghalaya. It is the first of its kind joint Bilateral Military Exercise between the two countries. The aim of the six day long exercise will be to build and promote closer relations with armies of the neighbouring countries.

India-World Bank signed a $98 million loan pact

A $98 million loan pact and a $2 million grant agreement was signed between India and the World Bank with an aim to help the India in increasing its capacities of power generations using cleaner, renewable energy sources. The Project will finance Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited(IREDA) and will provide sub-loans to states to invest in solar parks.

Rewa and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh have first two solar parks with targeted installed capacities of 750 MW and 250 MW respectively.
