BRICS Bank approved $400 million loans for India and Russia

BRICS’s Shanghai-based New Development Bank (NDB) has approved $400 million loans to India and Russia for two infrastructure and sustainable development projects. The loans provided are in line with NDB’s primary objective. In India the loan will be used to rehabilitate the Indira Gandhi canal system whereas in Russia, it will be utilized for building a toll transport corridor connecting Ufa city centre to the M-5 federal highway.


Emmerson Mnangagwa to be Sworn in as Zimbabwe’s New President

The vacancy left by Mr. Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe will be filled by Emmerson Mnangagwa as Mnangagwa will swear as Zimbabwe’s New President. Mnangagwa is currently vice president of the country. He has been nominated by ruling ZANU-PF party. Earlier Mr. Robert Mugabe had stepped down after 37 years ruling the country.


Facebook Aims to Train 5 lakh Indians on Digital Skills by 2020

World’s largest social media giant Facebook has stated that it will provide digital skills training to five lakh people in India by the year 2020. The company has designed two plans to complete this objective based on individuals and start-ups which were also unveiled. The names of the programmes are:- Facebook Digital Training and Facebook Startup Training Hubs.


Safe city plan for women in 8 metro cities Started by Centre

Centre government has initiated safe city plans for women in 8 metropolitan cities. The plans were introduced by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba.

The cities that will be covered under the safe city plan are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Hyderabad.

As per the plan, police and municipal corporations of these 8 cities will have to make a plan of action and respective state level committee headed by the chief secretary of the state will forward it. One month time has been given for submitting plan of action.


Shubhangi Swaroop becomes first female pilot inducted into Indian Navy

Shubhangi Swaroop from Bareilly has become first female pilot to be inducted into the Indian Navy. Shubhangi has been appointed at the Naval Armament Inspection (NAI). She will be given Pilot training at Dundigal Air Force Academy near Hyderabad.
