Nationality
The applicant must be an Indian citizen as well as a permanent resident of Assam.
Age Limit
The applicant must not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age as on 1st January 2025. However, there is a provision in Assam Assistant Teacher age relaxation for different categories according to below:
- Ex-Servicemen: 2 years
- OBC/MOBC: 3 years
- SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 5 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years
Small Family Criteria
Applicants having more than two living children on or after 01/01/2021 will not be eligible for appointment.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification for Assam Assistant Teacher LP and UP as per the post is as follows:
Assistant Teacher (Lower Primary)
- Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Assam TET or Central TET for Lower Primary School.
Assistant Teacher (Upper Primary)
- Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent).
- Graduation from a UGC-recognized university.
- 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Science Teacher (Upper Primary)
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent).
- B.Sc from a UGC-recognized university.
- 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
- Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.
Hindi Teacher (Upper Primary)
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent).
- Graduation with Hindi as a subject from a UGC-recognized university.
- 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
- Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.
