Dharmendra Pradhan who is India’s Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development &Entrepreneurship launched a National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) for Women from Punjab’s Mohali city. This project has been launched solely for women. Under the project women will be trained for various courses like beauty care, cosmetology & fashion design and also in technology.
This is much appreciated initiative taken by government of India. The cost to setup the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) for Women will be around Rs.17 crores. This is the first of its kind NSTI Institute which is especially established for women.
Apart from launching National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) for Women, the minister also made other announcements. Below are other announcements made by Dharmendra Pradhan.
The minister also gave some happiness to differently abled persons of Mohali. He launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for differently abled persons. This is also first of its kind and a unique initiative.
Dharmendra Pradhan also India’s first in-phone guide and mobile application “Go whats That” in Chandigarh.

About Skill India Campaign
Skill India is government of India’s initiative. It was launched by current prime minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi on 15 July 2015. It has mission to make country’s youth more skilled. As a target, government has plans to train more than forty crore (40) people in India by the end of 2022. The programme itself includes various programmes such as:
- National Skill Development Mission
- National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
- Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
