So here we are presenting some major points about it and its comparison with other cards available in India. Also check things you wanted to know about RuPay Card.
What is RuPay Card?
Rupay card is an Indian domestic card that was launched by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) back in 2012. It was introduced in Indian payments system to reduce the monopoly done by foreign gateways like Visa and MasterCard. So it was launched as a better and less costly alternative to the MasterCard and Visa card schemes.
Operational Cost: The main difference between RuPay Card And Visa Debit Card is its operating cost. Because it is a domestic product so the operating cost is very less as compared to visa debit card which is processed in foreign countries.
Transaction Speed : This is second big difference between RuPay and Visa Debit Card. Because it is processed within country, so the speed of transactions done through RuPay Card is high. Whereas Visa or MasterCard’s processing is done through foreign offices or at international level thus require more time which slows down the transaction speeds.
As mentioned above, RuPay card is made for domestic use, so it can’t be used at international level transactions like Visa cards.
Easy to Use by Banks: Banks have to pay quarterly fee to join any foreign payment network such as Visa Debit Card or MasterCard but this is not the case with RuPay cards. Banks can join RuPay network without paying any fee.
Number of Services provided: There are some limitations of using RuPay Card as it provides only debit card with online transaction whereas Visa offers both debit and credit cards.
Safety: RuPay cards are more safe as compared to international card. the reason being its operation is limited within India only. The data is shared among national gateway only. But in case of using Visa Debit Card, customer data is processed internationally so risk of data theft is more.
