Ending a long pending demand of people and tourists, Goa Tourism Development Corporation’s (GTDC) launched GoaMiles app based taxi service. The new service is expected to resolve various taxi issues faced by the customers such as over charging, running without meter and many others. This is going to give a tough competition to already operating app based services in Goa such as Ola and Uber.
Goa has became first state of India to launch its own app based taxi service. It will definitely stop the perennial commuting problem that has been one major issue faced by tourists as well as local citizens of state. Speaking at the launch, chief minster of Goa, Manohar Parikar said that the demand of taxis is going to increase in near future. He also predicted that people will prefer to use the taxi service over their personal cars in future. Adding to his statement, he further said that this will also end cheating activities being done by taxi drivers with tourists and new visitors.
Right now 350 taxis have been registered with GTDC. Within just one hour of launch, 120 taxis out of 350 were booked. Passenger base has crossed 6,000 users even before the app was launched. GTDC will charge the consumer around Rs 20-80 as service fee.
Today most taxi walas in Goa run without meter, over charge to customers. With app based taxi service of Goa, all such practices will be eliminated as it can be easily tracked.
