India commonwealth games 2018 Day 1 Updates
5-04-2018 CWG Updates: It was a memorable first day for India at commonwealth games 2018. Indian Weightlifters shined on day 1 as Manipur girl S. Mirabai Chanu won first gold medal for India at CWG 2018 in 48 Kg weight category. While Gururaja Poojary won silver medal in 56 kg weight class.
So overall it was good start by India at 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games with one silver and one gold medal both in weightlifting events. This placed India at 4th position on first day of CWG Games 2018.
Day 2 of India at CWG 2018
6-04-2018 CWG Updates: It was again weightlifters show for India at commonwealth games 2018. Another girl from Manipur Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu won second gold medal for India in 53 Kg weight category. Sanjita also made a new record of weightlifting. While Deepak Lather in men’s 69 kg category grabbed a bronze medal. With this India moved to third place on Day 2 in CWG Medals tally only behind England (1st) and Australia(2nd).
Day 3 India Commonwealth Games Medals
7-04-2018 CWG Updates : India’s day 3 at commonwealth games also belonged to weightlifters. This time it belonged to men. India got two gold medal on third day of games. First it was Sathish Sivalingam from Sathuvachari, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India in 77 kg weight category.
Later on 21 years old Ragala Venkat Rahul also joined Indian gold meal winners list by winning gold by lifting a total weight of 338kg (151kg+187kg).
India commonwealth games 2018 Day 4 Updates
8-04-2018 CWG Updates: Simply brilliant fourth day of India in 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday. This time not only weightlifters but shooters, Table Tennis player also grabbed gold.
- In weightlifting it was Poonam Yadav from Varanasi who won gold in 69kg weightlifting women category. She total lifted 222kg (100kg+122kg).
- Young pistol shooter Manu Bhaker fired total of 240.9 to add gold medal to her name in women’s 10 metres air pistol shooting event. Manu who is just 16 years old was taking part in first CWG games of her life.
- Former world number one Heena Sidhu won silver medal in the same event for India.
- Table Tennis: Indian women table tennis team won gold medal also. They defeated team Singapore in the final match.
Thus it was all ladies show on fourth day of India performance at Commonwealth Games 2018.
CWG 2018 Gold Coast, Day 5, Live Updates
9-04-2018 CWG Updates : It is not a bad day for India on fifth day of games as many medals were won by India. The games on fifth day are completed now. Blow are updates of India at the end of the day. For right now below is the summary of today that is 9th of April, 2018.
Updates 1: Finally gold won by men. Indian shooting ace Jitu Rai claimed gold medal in 10m air pistol event in men’s. While bronze medal in air pistol shooting was also won by another Indian Om Prakash Mitharval. Jitu Rai shot 235.1 to comfortably get the top spot in the event while compatriot Mitharval shot 214.3 to confirm bronze medal for him and India.
Update 2 : Indian weightlifter Pardeep Singh won silver medal in men’s 105 weight category. He total lifted 352 Kg weight (152 Kg in snatch and 200 Kg in clean and jerk round).
Update 3 : Women 10m rifle event: Here two Indian women won silver and bronze. Mehuli Ghosh grabbed silver while Apurvi Chandela became bronze medal winner in women’s 10m Air Rifle event for India at Commonwealth games 2018.
Update 4 : India on fifth day ended its long 12 years old drought in teams events at Commonwealth games by wining gold in mixed team badminton at 2018 CWG. Indian team defeated Malaysia by a score of 3-1 in final.
Overall it was a brilliant fifth day for India in terms of medal winning. India now have moved up to third place with 10 golds, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Day 6 updates : 10th April 2018
India’s day 6th was quite good. Many Indian players moved to next rounds of various events. Talking about medals won, two more medals (one Gold, One silver) were added to Indian medal tally. Here are the updates of Indian medal winning player at CWG 2018.
Update 1: Indian ace shooter Heena Sidhu lifted gold medal in shooting event of women’s 25 m Pistol category.
Update 2: Sachin Chaudhary shown his power on tenth day of games. He won bronze in Power Lifting under men’s heavyweight segment.
Day 7 Updates: 11th April, 2018
India’s seventh day was good but not the best. India got one Gold and 2 bronze medals on 7th day. All were won by shooters. Here are the medal winners:
Update 1: Shreyasi Singh won gold medal in shooting in the Women’s double trap event.
Update 2: Om Prakash Mitharwal grabbed bronze in Men’s 50 metre pistol.
Update 3: Another shooter Ankur Mittal named bronze to his name in Men’s double trap event.
Day 8 Updates: 12th April, 2018
What a phenomenal day for India at Commonwealth Games 2018. It was all Indian wrestler’s show.
Gold: India’s first gold came through wrestler Rahul Aware in Men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event. Rahul defeated Steven Takahashi of Canada in final.
Silver: Sushil Kumar as expected hit the gold in men’s freestyle 74 Kg wrestling. Tejaswini Sawant added one more silver medal to India’s medal tally at CWG18. She grabbed it in Women’s 50 metre rifle prone. Wrestler Babita Kumari also managed to win silver in 53 Kg women free style wrestling event.
Bronze: It was wrestler Kiran who made it to bronze in Women’s freestyle 76 kg on eighth day of games.
