India has opened its account in medals tally account on Monday at Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games taking place at in Ashgabat. India grabbed medals in all three segments that is Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Purnima Hembram in women’s pentathlon grabbed the first gold medal for India by gaining aggregate 4062 points from five events. In men’s shot put, Tejinder Pal Singh Toor won the silver. Tejinder thrown the iron ball 19.26m distance in his third attempt. The gold in the men’s shot put was won by Ivan Ivanov of Kazakhstan with Record throw of 19.60m.
Sanjivani Jadhav won silver in women’s 3000m race. She completed the race in 9 minutes 26.34 seconds. Gold was grabbed by Mohammed Alia Mohammed of United Arab Emirates and she took 9:25.03s to complete the race.
Bronze was won by Neena Varakil in women’s long jump. Neena made a jump of 6.04m to clinch the bronze for India in women’s high jump category. Gold and Silver medals were won by Olga Rypakova of Kazakhstan and Thi Thu Thao Bui of Vietnam respectively.
With this, India now has been placed at 11th spot in the medals tally. The medal tally is toped by hosts Turkmenistan with 26 golds, 21 silver, 12 bronze medals.
