Boxer of India shown a remarkable performance at Galym Zharylgapov Boxing Tournament in Karaganda, Kazakhstan and have won 5 medals at the event. The five medals include three gold, one silver and a bronze medal. The tournament was ended on Sunday.
The gold medals were won by K Shyam Kumar (49kg), Naman Tanwar (91kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg). K Shyam Kumar is also former three-time King’s Cup gold-medalist and a reigning national champion from the Railways. Naman Tanwar is former world youth championships bronze medallist whereas Satish Kumar (+91kg) is bronze medallist at Asian Games.
Naman Tanwar is just nineteen years old and is seem to be future of Indian boxing as he was also declared as best boxer of the tournament. It was national champion Manish Kaushik (60kg) who won the silver medal while Bronze medal was won by Commonwealth Games silver-medalist Mandeep Jangra. Mandeep lost in semi finals so has to be content with a bronze medal.
There were five local and five international teams participated in Galym Boxing Tournament and total 154 boxer competed as a whole.
