India’s first Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for Skilling in smart cities was introduced on October 23 in New Delhi, by Union Minister Rajnath Singh. The inauguration was done as a team with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
NDMC-PMKK Centre for Skilling in Smart Cities has been located at Mandir Marg of New Delhi. The building is 30,000 sq.ft. and is capable of skilling 4,000 youth on per year basis.
Aims of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK)
The primary aim of this new move is to acquire speed in skilling through collective endeavours. The Center is emphasizing on the dedication of the Union Government to help skilling in smart cities.
Extending cooperation for setting up of PMKK Centres for Smart Cities.
Skills training opportunities will be provided to unemployed youth through its short-term training (STT) module.
Contribute to the capacity building of municipal employees through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program is another motive.
