Khelo India Youth Games 2020 in Guwahti (Asaam)
After successful arrangement of two editions of “Khelo India Youth Games“, the third edition will be held in Guwahati of Assam. The event will be held in 2020 staring from January 18 to 30 January 2020. The games were started in the year 2018. The first edition if Khelo India Games was held in National Capital New Delhi. The second edition was organised in 2019 at Pune.
The games are organised in partnership with Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and School Games Federation of India (SGFI). There will be participation of more than ten thousand athletes from India along with officials.
About Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG)
These games are organised to promote sports among the youth of country. These games are held each year since 2018. The Khelo India School Games are arranged in the month of January or February each year.
The games are arranged under two categories depending on the age of students:
- Under 17 year school students
- Under 21 years college students.
Purpose of Organising Khelo India School Games
The motive of games is to promote athleticism among the students. It aims to prepare more sports persons for International events. The programme was started by Union Ministry of Sports. The government selects 1000 best performing sports students each year and then provides financial assistance of Rs. 5,00,000 each year for eight years.
