Indian ace Kidambi Srikanth achieves World No 2 ranking in the latest BWF ranking released today. This is because of his wonderful performance throughout the season. Kidambi has jumped up two placed from his earlier world no. 4.
This year Kidambi Srikanth had played five finals out of which four were won by him. With 73,403 points, he is only behind behind from world number one World Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark. Viktor is ahead from Srikanth by 4527 point.
Talking about other Indians, US Open Grand Prix Gold winner H S Prannoy also shown improvements of one place because of his good performance in the semifinals at Paris. He achieved his career best ranking of World No. 11.
However Open champion B Sai Praneeth was dropped by one place from earlier 15th place to current 16th spot. Sameer Verma, who missed the events at Denmark and France due to fitness issues remained at 18th place.
In Women category, PV Sindhu semifinalist at France, kept her World No. 2 spot and former World No.1 Saina Nehwal was also steady at the 11th spot.
In men’s double, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty shown an improvement of four spots to be at the 28th place.
Whereas in Women’s double, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy could not keep their 23rd spot and slipped two places to be at the 25th spot. Mix double players Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki remained steady at 16th place.
