Prime Minister Narendra Modi Today Inaugurated first phase of first phase of Kochi metro rail service in Kerala. It is the first phase of the total 25 kilometers phase which has been completed and work is in progress for the rest. The 14 Kilometers route starts from Aluva and goes up to Pallarivattam covering total 11 metro stations. The route was constructed at a cost of 3750 crore.
All the metro stations have been designed on the theme of Kerala’s rich culture and heritage. There will be three coaches in the train having sitting capacity of 136 people, whereas total 975 passengers will be able to travel at a time. QR code scanning technique will be used to check tickets.
The special part of this metro is that some of its part will be operated using solar energy. It will be the fist communication based metro of country. All coaches are made under Make in India initiative. Employing transgenders for jobs in metro such as hose keeping and at ticket counters also makes it more special. It is first Indian metro to offer jobs to such depressed community.
