Boxing lady from India and five times world world champion MC Mary Kom has officially resigned from the position of national observer for Indian boxing. The resign from worl champion came after Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore made it clear that currently active sports persons can’t be considered for such positions.
Mary Kom also understood the situation and rules regarding the post as she already resigned from the position so as to avoid any unnecessary controversies about the position.
The 35 years old Olympic bronze-medallist was appointed to the position of boxing’s national observer along with other 12 observers in the MArch at the time when Vijay Goel was the sports minister. Along with Mary Kom, other Olympic gold-medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra, double Olympic-medallist Sushil Kumar and former Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Akhil Kumar were also included in the national observing team for boxing.
