Mumbai, Delhi Best Airports in world: If someone ask a question about best airport in the world, then being an Indian you can proudly name Delhi and Mumbai and this is what latest Global Passenger Survey also says. Both these airports have been named as World’s best airports by Airports Council International (ACI).
Mumbai and Delhi airports have received jointly annual airport service quality (ASQ) awards on Tuesday. As per the latest reports both airports received more than 40 million passengers each annually.
Apart from Delhi, Mumbai seven other airports of India have also featured in top three in different categories thus helped India to secure highest number of awards. Beijing and Shanghai have been at second position. In terms of overall awards by a country, after India its China with six making to the second rank. Indonesia with four has secured third place.
How ACI survey was done?
The rankings were based on survey conducted by Airports Council International (ACI) based on 34 key performance parameters. It included, airport access, check-in, security screening, restrooms, stores and restaurants. These indicators were further categorised into specific services like ground transportation to and fro airport, parking facilities, waiting time in check-in queue, efficiency of check-in, courtesy and helpfulness of airport staff, restaurant and eating facilities, value for money at these establishments, shopping facilities, value for money of shopping facilities, internet access, availability of and cleanliness of washrooms, cleanliness of terminal, ambience, arrival services like passport and customs inspection, speed of baggage delivery.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Mumbai
Mumbai Airport of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is maintained and work under GVK’s Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL). It is also known as Sahar International Airport. It is the second busy airport of India (Delhi airport is first one) in terms of total and international passenger traffic. Out of Asia region, it is 14th busiest airport and globally it is at 29th position in terms of busiest airports of world.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi Airport)
Indira Gandhi International Airport is run by GMR. Airport is awarded as best airport award in the Asia Pacific region. In 2016 rankings released by ACI, Delhi airport was at second position along with Mumbai and Singapore witnessing more than 40 million passengers from Asia-Pacific region.
Airports Council International (ACI): ACI is a global association of 1,953 airports from 176 countries around the world. It was in 1991 that it was established. Its primary objective of creation of ACI is to ensure safe, secure, efficient and environment friendly air transportation system. It coordinates and work with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on daily basis.
