The very first mock exercise on forest fire was conducted in Uttarakhand by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday (April 20, 2017). It was carried out to help and understand the measures taken in the event of a forest fire and to tackle fire situations more solidly.
It will ensure improved communication and a better coordination amongst various stakeholder agencies. It will play a very important hand in to generate awareness among the local population about what to do and what not to do in the event of forest fire.
Earlier an orientation conference was held among concerned officials to ensure that the exercise goes smoothly.
The exercise will be participated by the senior officials from all the important departments such as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army, health, police, firefighting, forest Civil Defense, transport, electricity, public relations, etc.
