Odisha gets Rs 5,252 Crore for railway projects in the state from the center government in the Budget 2018. This is the highest ever amount received by Odisha from center govt in any budget.
Earlier Odisha Chief minister of Odisha had demanded Rs. 6500 crore on January 17 from the government to railway infrastructure development during 2018-19 fiscal. All though the amount allotted is very less than the demanded but it is still 150 crore more than what the state had got from center in previous year’s allocation for railway sector which was Rs 5102 crore.
How the alloted money to be Utilized in Railway?
As per the Naveen Patnaik’s demands the allotted money for Railway will be used for metro rail lines for the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, construction of six new lines between Brahmapur-Phulbani-Sambalpur, Bargarh-Nuapara via Padmapur, Bhadrachalam-Malkangiri, Talcher-Gopalpur, Gopalpur-Sangapur road and Lanjigarh-Talcher.
