Mahatma Gandhi NREGS has achieved a objective by geotagging one Crore assets and putting them in public domain.
Since the start of the programme in financial year 2006-07, almost 2.82 Crore assets have been created with an average, about 30 Lakh Assets creation per yeara. It comprises of a array of works such as plantation, water harvesting structures, flood controls, rural infrastructure, individual assets for sustainable livelihood, community infrastructure and so on.
The practice of geotagging is still going on and all assets under MGNREGS will be geotagged with Special focus given on geotagging Natural Resource Management works mainly the works related to water.
About GeoMGNREGA
It is an endeavor of the Ministry of Rural Development in association for geo-tagging the assets created under MGNREGS in each gram panchayat. It is done with collaborating National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO and National Informatics Centre. A MoU was signed by Ministry of Rural Development with NRSC on 24th June 2016.
