Government has launched Pradhan mantri LPG Panchayat at Mota Ishanpur village at Gandhinagar district of Gujarat as a backup scheme to its existing Pradhan Mantri Ujwalla Yojna (PMUY). The scheme was launched by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Under the scheme government will distribute LPG connections for domestic use in rural areas where conventional fuel such as cowdung, charcoal or wood is used. The aim of Pradhan mantri LPG Panchayat is to spread awareness among rural people about the use of clean and environment friendly fuel.
The plan is to educate one lakh panchayats all over the country so that they can discuss issues of people regarding the use of LPG, could aware people about various benefits of LPG usage such as environmental, health and women empowerment.
