Olympics silver medalist of 2016, PV Sindhu will be Indian flag bearer at Commonwealth Games 2018 as per the latest news from Indian Olympic Association. The 2018 CWG opening ceremony will be held at Gold Coast, Australia and will start from April 4th, 2018.
Sindhu who is currently the world no.3 in international badminton rankings had to settle down with Bronze medal in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Last year, Sindhu also bagged a silver medal at Badminton World Championships. This time she is hoping to hit the target of gold as she has improved a lot in between time.
Japan and China are not taking part in the Commonwealth Games 2018. In the absence of these two country’s badminton players, PV Sindhu’s journey to Gold seems to be little easy. She may face tough competition from anther Indian badminton sensation and her country mate Saina Nehwal.
Commonwealth Games 2018
This years CWG 2018 are being held in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The Commonwealth Games start date is 4th April, 2018 and will end on 15th of April. Around 71 teams will take part in different sporting events held next month.
India is taking part in CWG 2018 event with total 222 athletes from 15 different sports. The sports in which India is taking part are Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn bowls, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Para Sports in the quadrennial sport.
