Rafel Nadal continued his wonderful performance on his favorite clay court as he defeated Dominic Thiem in a grueling encounter on this Sunday and won Madrid open. He defeated world number 9 Dominic Thiem by 7-6, 6-4. This was his Nadal’s second straight win against the Australian.
Dominic gave him tough competition as both had their chances in the tie-break at the end of first set which lasted for an hour. Dominic also got chances to get back in the match with four break points but could not take the advantage and finally Nadal came out victorious with fourth match point.
This victory has helped Nadal to move above the Roger Federer and he is now world no.4.
