Home Minister of Telangana Mr. Nayani Narshima Reddy has inaugurated the first water ATM at Hyderabad ‘s Nalgonda ‘X’ road here today. Water ATM is a joint effort of an international NGO named as Safe Water Network and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Both have partnered with each other to provide affordable pure water for 24×7 in Hyderabad.
Department has set a target to reach 150,000 people and total 200 ATMs will placed at various areas to achieve the target. The ATM placement work will be done in phased manner and in first phase a target to place 50 water ATMs till 2018 is set.
The initiative is supported by USAID under the Urban WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Alliance Partnership and is funded by Honeywell India.
Honeywell India is the company that has been actively involved in various water projects in Telangana for past few years.
