Triple Talaq Bill passed by Rajya Sabha
Narendra Modi government has fulfilled its promise made to the Muslim ladies of the country as Triple Talaq Bill passed by Rajya Sabha. After the bill was passed in Lok Sabha, it had to go through Rajya Sabha. But, this hurdle was crossed successfully. Now the Triple Talaq bill will be sent to the President of India. After permission from President, the bill will become a law.
Voting Scenario of Triple Talaq Bill
In the Rajya Sabha, the voting competition was tight. But, Modi government cleared this hurdle. Out of total votes, 99 votes were in the favor of law, while 84 votes were casted against the law. Now Triple Talaq Bill will soon become a law.
About Triple Talaq
In Muslims community, there is an instant way of giving divorce to wife legally. The husband just has to say Talaq three times in any form i.e Oraly, written or on electronic form. This was considered as injustice by many Muslim ladies and others. So, the demand to ban this was high. Now that the Triple Talaq Bill has cleared both the hurdles (passing in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha), it will be introduced as law very soon.
Rules under Bill
As per the bill, following are the punishments or rules set by the government:-
- Husband giving triple Talaq can be sent for jail for maximum three years.
- Along with imprisonment, fine will also be imposed.
- Arrest without warrant after FIR is lodged.
- The child will remain custody of mother till decision is announced.
- Police can’r grant bail to the person.
- Giving divorce three times will be a crime.
- Magistrate will have the power to conduct compromise between husband and wife.
This bill will surely bring smile on the face of Muslim ladies who were demanding to stop triple Talaq for long time.
