Union Cabinet Approval to PLI Scheme
Union Cabinet of India has given its approval to the Production Linked Incentive scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage. It has also sanctioned amount of around Rs. 18,100 crores for the scheme. The approval is the part of National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage.
What is PLI Scheme?
PLI or Production Linked Incentive scheme is to increase the capacity of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) and five Giga Watt Hour of Niche ACC. According to details, PLI scheme aims to achieve manufacturing capacity of 50 GW on ACC and 5 GW on Niche ACC.
What is ACC?
Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) is a new type of storage cell. It stores energy in the form of chemical or electrochemical. They convert it back to the electric energy as per requirement.
Why PLI Scheme?
The government is doing efforts to reduce import of batteries. This scheme is a part of it. Also it will speed up the production.
