Union Government approved proposal to install mobile towers in cantonments and Military areas on Wednesday. This was a long pending demand of telecom companies.
As per the statement of government and revision in the defence ministry policy, lands will be allotted for mobile towers in defence areas and cantonments to set up shared communication towers and allied infrastructure.
The revised policy will cover allotment of defence land on lease and grant of permission in defence areas and cantonments to access service licensees and companies registered with the department of telecommunications.
A part from that government also decided to finalise below:
- A new electronic policy
- A new policy on internet of things
- A new e-commerce policy
- A new software product policy
- A new cloud computing policy
Benefits:
Network problems were very common in the areas that fall under the defence or cantonment because as per the rules there is no permission to install mobile towers in such areas. But this new move of government will surely make communication easy in such areas.
