Prime Minister Narendra Modi Union Government has approved Rs. 2000 Crore to set up new Aadhaar units at post offices to make the enrolment process easy for people.
- Total 15,000 post offices will be having Aadhaar card centers inside them till March, 2018.
- The machines used at post office’s Aadhaar card centers will be Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) approved.
- Trained personnel will be responsible to operate the machines.
- The move will phase out private contractors from the Aadhaar data collection process.
