Union government today started a new online portal named e-Rashtriya Kisan Agri Mandi (e-RaKAM) to make it easy for farmers to sell their agriculture produces. The portal was launched by Food and distribution minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Chaudhary Birender Singh who is currently the steel minister.
The portal is joint initiative by MSTC- A state run auctioner and CRWC (Centeral Warehousing Corporation). A target of selling 20 lakh tonnes of pulses is set for the fist phase.
This online platform will be a great help for small farmers to sell their produce. Under this platform farmer, PSUs, Civil Suppliers and buyers all will be connected to each others. Currently there are many places in the country where agriculture products are stored in large amount and farmers wait for buyers. It is hoped that this initiative will provide better approach to farmers to be connected with buyers.
It is first of its kind where technology is used to connect small villages farmers with largest markets. Government will set up e-RaKAM centres throughout the country to make it easy for farmers to sale agriculture produce. The payments will be done directly to into the accounts of farmers through e-payments.
