Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced Union government future plans regarding the road constructions in India while addressing ASEAN-INDIA connectivity summit in New Delhi. He announced that government will increase its road construction capabilities and will construct 40 Kilo Metres of road every day in the country by next year that is in 2018.
As per the transport minister, the project has already been started by the government in Ganga from Baranasi to Haldia, 1,608 kilometres. Gadkari termed the introduction of sea-plane a ‘big revolution’ in the field of transport in India.
He said that for boosting trade and investment in India as well as in the ASEAN region connecting of rivers and ports is a must thing so government will connect 111 rivers into waterways.
He further added that Government is also making 3 multimodal hub, 40 river points and 9 ferry services, 8 rural services and have started repairing work of Farraka water gate.
