On the occasion of International women day, Delhi police introduced all Women Police Patrolling Squad in the city and PCR vans for the protection of women in Delhi. The move is also to increase confidence of women in Delhi Police.
All women patrolling squad of Delhi was launched as a road trip from Delhi’s Sarojni Nagar area to Citywalk Mall in Saket. It was joined by policewomen, famous ‘hijabi-biker’ rider Roshni Misbah and also by Delhi University students.
Policewomen and officers included in the patrolling squad have been trained specially in activities such as keeping and riding the vehicles, weapon handling, firing and unarmed combat.
As per Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya, the motive of the initiative is to motivate policewomen. He further included that it will improve women security and comfort to women and girls on roads, public places, outside schools, metro stations, parks and colleges in south Delhi.
Our Comments: The move is really an admirable and was much required step to increase women safety in National Capital of India. There are more initiatives of such kind needed to stop crimes against women. Rules and punishments are needed to be made more strict and quick.
