University of Manchester scientists have created a ‘Molecular Robot’ which is world’s first. The robot is very small in size equal to millionth of a millimetre. it will be very helpful in formation of molecules and to discover novel drugs.
The Molecular Robot is composed of just 150 carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen atoms. All these atoms are the minimum building blocks required in the formation of molecules.
The Molecular Robot is small to the point, that it enormously reduces demand for materials, drastically power requirements and can speed up and enhance drug discovery and rapidly increase the miniaturisation of other products.
Importance
Such molecular robots can be utilized for medicinal purposes, advanced manufacturing processes and even in building molecular factories and assembly lines.
