Uttar Pradesh State government led by Yogi Adityanath has launched door to door “DASTAK” campaign to fight Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanise Encephalitis (JE). The aim is to fully eradicate these diseases from Uttar Pradesh. DASTAK campaign is launched in association with UNICEF. It is a part of comprehensive Social and Behaviour Change.
DASTAK campaign
DASTAK is a state campaign run by Uttar Pradesh (UP) government with the support from UNICEF. Under the campaign whole state machinery will go door to door in 38 JES and AE affected districts, mostly falling in the Tara.
Japanise Encephalitis (JE)
Japanise Encephalitis (JE) is a vairous spread by the bite of infected mosquitoes. The disease is more active majorly rural areas especially where agriculture is main work of people. It is one of the very common disease in Asia. As per the reports, 68,000 cases of Japanise Encephalitis (JE) occur in a year and almost 17,000 deaths happens due to the disease.
